Right now, my primary and really my only interest as to why I want my baby sweet potato girl to learn how to walk is so that she can wear darling baby girl dresses! - - She can't now because they get in the way, stuck beneath her knees while she's crawling.

"No Honey, Fifty-TWO, not Fifty-six"
My honey-man and I were just discussing the paperwork required to establish a flexible spending account for the pre-tax payment of our dear daughter's oh-so-crazy-expensive daycare costs, and we were trying to determine the annual cost value, and any no-daycare holiday weeks, etc., etc., and what not. At one point, we were both about to calculate the projected annual cost by simply multiplying the regular weekly $ amount by the number of weeks in a year, naturally...
Me: "So, $215 per week times 56..."
Mah honey-man: (he interrupts me) "Um, no honey, it's 52, not 56. There are 52 weeks in a year."
Me: (with an impatient and insistent tone) "Nooo, it's 56." (and I immediately open a web browser window to google the answer, speaking my inquiry as I type the words...) "How many weeks in a year?" (and the answer comes up...)
Me again: "What?! FIFTY-TWO??? 52?!?!! For years -- YEARS!!! -- for, for like, FOREVER, I've always thought it was FIFTY-SIX!!?! 52?"
Mah honey-man: (dying from laughter) "Honey, how many days are in a year?"

Guilty Confessions #12 & #13
#12: I used to feel kinda (more like really) critical of pregnant women who complain in their last month, wanting the baby to come early... I would think, "How can you say or even think that? Baby needs to cook as long as possible, right? You should want the baby to go to full term, right?"
#13: Well, I now understand why women in their 8th month say they want the baby out and really mean it... I want her out, now.

Guilty Confession #11
Whenever I see anyone wearing something made by Ed Hardy, my honest knee-jerk reaction/judgment is this:
"You're stupid."
The very same thing happens for other various ridiculously priced 'designer' clothing brands. I just can't seem to help myself on this one... it's all such a waste of good money.

Guilty Confession #10
This is bad - - sooooooo bad... I can't believe I did this:
This morning, I was running late for work AND I was starving. As I ran out the door, I was so desperate to eat what I'd prepared for my breakfast and not start over, that when I dropped my freshly made egg sandwich on the garage floor beside my car (the english muffin's bread side was down), I stared at it for about 4 seconds, and then went ahead and picked it right up, brushed it off on my shirt sleeve, and I ate it anyhow.
Yeah. And that's generally how the rest of my day went from there.

Guilty Confession #9
Last week, while sick at home, I laid on the couch and watched 'Project Runway' for the first time - - I, um, actually watched 4 episodes of it in a row! And now? I just checked Bravo to be sure when to watch the finale episode this coming Wednesday. This is another first for me, albeit an insignificant one... BACKGROUND INFO: I hardly ever remember to watch something I've seen that I like... I can't ever remember the right channel/station to turn to, let alone what day or time something may scheduled. Plus, I just don't like TV a whole lot.

Resisting the Urge
P.S. As an afterthought, what I should have done was take a picture of the inside of our freezer. That would have said it right there!

Guilty Confession #8
Didn't I just post yesterday that the latest song I've got stuck in my head is Neil Diamond's "Cherry, Cherry"?!?
Well, okay, okay, anyhow... Here's my guilty confession: This is my 2nd week in a row that I've tried to make it home from work in time to watch American Idol while I continue to work from home... And right now? I'm watching Jason Castro sing "Forever in Blue Jeans," and I'm delighted in totally geek-out fashion.
P.S. Although I didn't watch the second night of American Idol last week, I was upset to find out Carly had been voted off!
P.P.S. *UPDATE* David Archuleta (sp?) is next and so far, I'm totally unimpressed.

'Flicks on Repeat' or 'Guilty Confession #7'
I've been home by myself today, doing all sorts of lil' odd jobs: I've hung the ironing board wall mounting rack in our coat closet, painted 3 wall shelves, spray painted a new torchiere lamp for our bedroom, re-centered the frames above our bed, hung the guest signatures framing mat from our wedding, washed and folded 6 loads of laundry (whites, our bedsheets, our bed quilt, our winter duvet cover with other reds, synthetic darks, and light cottons), uploaded my pedometer records for the month, re-potted my mint plant and a jade, and I've had The Family Stone playing on repeat all this time... it's currently on it's fifth play through... yup.
There are other movies I tend to play over and over throughout a single day. Here's my Top Ten list for favorite 'watch it again and again in a single day' movies:
1) The Fellowship of the Ring (although I do watch all 3 on repeat)
2) Pride & Prejudice (2005)
3) Moulin Rouge
4) When Harry Met Sally
5) My Fair Lady
6) My Big Fat Greek Wedding
7) Amadeus
8) Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
9) The Family Stone
10) Fried Green Tomatoes

Guilty Confession #6
For breakfast this morning, eaten in my car while on the way to work, I had a split, pan-fried Nathan's hot dog on a potato bun with mayo, mustard, ketchup and melted sharp cheddar cheese. Yes, a hot dog for breakfast.
And this is from a woman who normally eats a hot dog once or twice a year at best.

Guilty Confession #5
So far this week at work, I've been living on handfuls of snap peas and carrots sticks with spinach dip... and several snack size Snickers bars leftover from our Halloween candy. Oh and one granny smith apple yesterday afternoon!
I'm hoping this confession will help me feel the shame of it (and not deny it any longer) and finally knock it off for the remainder of this week!
OR - - I do have another package of snap peas and more carrots, with over 1/2 of the spinich dip container remaining... and at least a dozen Snickers bars left!

"Guilty Confession #4" or "Ridiculous Confession"
Whenever I fill my gas tank, I make sure the total cost at the gas pump falls on a multiple of .05 cents or an even multiple of .10 cents. Like this morning, I paid $31.00 for a full tank, and the fill up before that was $17.85, and time before that, $22.35. I have been doing this ever since my senior year in high school, because back then, when I drove the lovely "Fudmobile" [BACKGROUND INFO: The Fudmobile had been my mother's beige, 4-door Delta 88 Oldsmobile (with a surprisingly impressive stereo system), purchased in 1986 after she'd sadly sold her sporty midnight blue Honda Prelude, when, at that time, she was being treating for what they thought was a bulging disk in her back, unable to sit comfortably in the low riding Prelude anymore, to find out several months later that she had an 8" long tumor growing in her spinal column!], I paid for gas with the a couple single $1 bills (bigger bills were kept in the bank, and no top off ever cost more than $10 back then) and lots and lots of change I always had stashed in a tin Tootsie Roll Bank I kept under the driver's seat. It was always easier to pay with coins if the total sum and change to be paid was to the nearest nickel and dime... and I never let go of the habit.

Oh Where, Oh Where have all my Socks Gone?
This past Sunday, I had to unexpectedly pack a suitcase for a possible week away from work, which has, indeed, resulted in an entire week spent away from work. No, I won't go into detail as to why - just know that everything is fine. But anyhow, as I was saying, I had to pack not knowing how long I'd be gone, which brought me to a recent discovery...
MY RECENT & ANNOYING DISCOVERY: One of the things that has come to annoy me most in my semi-transient living arrangements since May of last year, first at my aunt's for 6 months and now renting a bedroom at my friend's place, is that I am losing my socks. Yes. You read that right. I'm losing socks. Forget the cramped living space, all my stuff in storage, the total lack of any kind of dresser or that my things are kept about me on the floor in Hefty trash bags... I'm upset about my socks, dammit!
For years, I've been actually quite proud of the fact that I rarely lose any of my socks. Why I've been consciously proud of this, I dunno - it just lends more to the fact that I am 'organized' on a deeply compulsive level, I guess. Last year before the spring, I had only 1 mismatched loner sock, which was fine, because old socks make good shoe polishing 'rags' and I needed another sock to add to my shoe polishing box. [I am a sick girl.]
Anyhow, last weekend, I had washed a load of darks, yet when packing to leave town, I could find only 5 complete pairs of my favorite socks and 3 mismatches... when I should have 12 COMPLETE pairs!!?! Yes, twelve pairs of my very favorite socks, that's right = 2 pairs for $3 dollars each at Kmart, no joke! Mind you, that 12 pair-count doesn't include any of my workout socks, walking socks, sneaker socks, trouser socks, bedtime socks or holiday-themed socks, nor does it include any of my all-the-same-style brown corded socks, nor my tan, floral patterned Gold Toe socks. A GUILTY CONFESSION: I have a ridiculous amount of socks. Pajamas too, although most of those were mistakenly packed in a box, now somewhere in my storage unit.
So yeah, inexplicably, I've somehow lost ELEVEN socks [The Math: 12 pairs = 24 socks, minus 13 socks (the 5 pairs I still have, minus 3 mismatches) = 11 lost socks!]. How does this kind of thing happen? BACKGROUND INFO: I wash my clothes when I have a lot of dirty laundry piled up, but not often do I ever do laundry out of any concern that if I don't, I'll have nothing to wear. And so now, ANOTHER GUILTY CONFESSION: I have far too many clothes. I admit it and will not deny it. No, I'm not a clothes horse, nor am I any kind of slave to fashion. I have soooo much clothing though, I just don't know how it accumulates = which is a lie, but anyways, sidetracking here...
Because I could only find 5 of my12 pairs of my favorite socks, I just had to hand wash my mere 5 pairs in the bathroom sink, having run out of clean socks to wear. There are now 10 individual socks hanging all over the bathroom to air dry. And I find this amusing... amusing enough that I've actually bothered to write about it on my blog. Yup, my new thing in life is to find amusement wherever possible (this is not really a new approach; I'm easily amused in general). So yeah, I'm fairly annoyed, but also amused...
Where the hell did all my socks go?
P.S. I know, I'm a raging nerd.

Guilty Confession #2
Last night, around 10PM Pacific time, while my friend Ryan and I both sat on the couch, each with a phone in hand, I hungrily dialed the following numbers as fast as I could, before the phone lines were absolutely jammed:
1.888.TEMPO.02
1.888.TEMPO.03
1.888.TEMPO.07
1.888.TEMPO.08
Now if you don't recognize these numbers? I am SOOOOO NOT going to explain a bit of it.
This admission alone is enough, thanks!

I really love the holiday gift-package-packing dancers in the Kohl's commercials showing on TV right now. You may need Adobe's Macromedia's Flash Player (link here for free install).
