An Excellent Point: Media Controls our Perspective re: Working Moms in the U.S.

Anyone who shares my concern (and my anger) about the dreadful lack of support encountered by working mothers in the U.S., you should read this tight lil' piece written by Alice Bradley from AlphaMom.com:

"It's time for a cease fire"

Having worked as director of a child care resource and referral agency (fully funded by the feds to provide free services to working moms and dads) for the last 12 years, I have a little insight into this issue. We struggle daily to serve families with 6 kids when they can't afford to have 2. I suspect that if you looked at family size in counties that really support working parents, you would find that those parents are much more likely to have one or two children. It is not at all uncommon for us to get calls from large families with annual household incomes of under $5,000 a year. In our country, that is where the billions of dollars go. Sadly, there is not much left for the lovely treatment available in some other countries.
Just a note.. our same free services are given to parents who make $100,000 a year. A drop in the bucket, I know.
